Deena Jones, Expanded Functions Dental Assistant
With the practice since 1995, Deena Jones brings nearly three decades of experience and a warm sense of humor to her role as an expanded functions dental assistant. Working closely alongside Dr. First on all restorative care, Deena makes it her mission to put patients at ease — even in the one place no one looks forward to visiting.
Deena earned her Certificate of Specialization in Dental Assisting from St. Louis Community College at Forest Park in 1990, and has since expanded her skills with advanced training in dental anatomy, placement of restorative materials, and fixed and removable prosthetics. A committed lifelong learner, she’s attended countless continuing education courses over the years, including a week in Rancho Cucamonga, California, studying myofunctional therapy in children.
What Deena loves most is helping patients love their smiles. Over the years, she’s had the joy of getting to know patients and their families so well that she’s watched children in the practice grow into adults and bring their own kids through the door. Her philosophy comes with a wink: you don’t have to brush all your teeth — just the ones you want to keep!
Outside the office, Deena enjoys spending time with her kids and two grandsons and relaxing poolside with friends. An admitted ’80s girl, she loves the music of that era — Prince, Journey, The Cure, Simple Minds — and films like Valley Girl, Steel Magnolias, and Notting Hill. She also runs a side business creating personalized gifts with vinyl and engraving, and counts Mexican food and pizza among her favorites.
